ATLANTA - State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) participated in the WeLoveU Foundation's blood drive on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The event marked the 20th anniversary of the International WeLoveU Foundation's blood drive events, conducted in partnership with the American Red Cross, and it was held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
"This blood drive highlights the power of our community coming together to uplift one another," said Rep. Schofield. "WeLoveU's commitment to improving health outcomes, especially in support of communities disproportionately affected by health disparities, is a cause worth celebrating. I am proud to stand with the volunteers, organizers and donors who selflessly gave their time and resources to make this event a success. Events like these remind us that a small act can have a profound impact. Each donation represents a step toward healing and hope."
Concurrent blood drives were also held in Los Angeles and Philadelphia, and the Atlanta location collected 284 pints of blood, which will help save up to 852 lives. State Representatives Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) and Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) also participated in the event.
