2024 AmFam Champ raises $2.5 million; highest charitable impact in event history for second consecutive year

The 2024 PGA Tour Champions American Family Insurance Championship raised $2,505,000, it was announced today, representing the highest total ever raised from years the event has been held - and surpassing last year's record amount.

This brings the total amount raised for charity to $19.7 million since the inaugural event in 2016, with 1,010 grants provided to nonprofit organizations.

Approximately half of the 2024 proceeds will be distributed to the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, and 163 primarily local charities will share the rest in varying amounts.

The total proceeds raised, and charitable organizations supported, were revealed at an annual event today held at American Family Insurance corporate headquarters in Madison. The event featured tournament host and 2023 AmFam Champ winner Steve Stricker, his wife Nicki, American Family Insurance Chair and CEO Bill Westrate and representatives from community nonprofit grant recipients.

"Once again, we are humbled by a second consecutive record-breaking year of charitable proceeds from the AmFam Champ," said Steve and Nicki Stricker. "To see the dedication and commitment of those who come together year-after-year - fans, volunteers, sponsors, players, caddies, the tournament team - gives us an overwhelming feeling of gratitude. Meeting the nonprofit organizations, the families who depend on them for support, and knowing how our community benefits, is truly impactful."

The eighth American Family Insurance Championship was held in June at University Ridge Golf Course. Fans and 975 volunteers from 29 states took part in the three days of tournament play, and the volunteers provided 20,000 hours to the event. The total local economic impact of the tournament from 2016-2024 is estimated to exceed $115 million.

During today's event, University of Wisconsin-Madison and University Ridge Golf Course representatives were recognized for their partnership and support of the AmFam Champ. The tournament has been held at University Ridge since its inception in 2016. The 2025 event will be held for the first time at TPC Wisconsinin Madison.

Briarpatch Youth Services
Briarpatch Youth Services is a dynamic nonprofit community organization that has served Metropolitan Madison and Dane County since 1971. The agency provides a broad array of services to more than 2,000 youth annually who have run away, are experiencing homelessness, are justice-involved, or facing other challenges. The agency's mission is: Strengthening the Lives of Youth and Families.

Friends with Food
Friends with Food's mission is to respond to needs in our community by providing food and supplies during a time of need. By increasing access to nutritious food, enhancing program participation, providing comprehensive support services, promoting long-term self-sufficiency, improving health outcomes, fostering community engagement, and gathering impact data, they aim to create a sustainable and empowering environment for the families they serve.

Stand Up and Play Eastern WI
Stand Up and Play Eastern WI's seeks to change the lives of mobility-challenged children, veterans, and other wheelchair users with a remarkable piece of equipment - the VertaCat - that allows them to stand up again and participate in outdoor recreational activities and sports. The chapter aims to make four new VertaCats available to public golf courses in Wisconsin in 2025.

Next year's event at TPC Wisconsin will be held June 2-8, 2025, with special events during the week and tournament play June 6-8. Stricker will host the tournament for the ninth time and play for the eighth time.
