Manchin Announces More Than $493k For Environmental Conservation Efforts Along Halfmoon Run

Charleston, WV - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $493,903 from the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to expand and protect native brook trout strongholds along Halfmoon Run in West Virginia. The funding will support reconnecting and restoring more than four miles of headwater habitat on public lands and enrolling high-value conservation lands in a brook trout-focused conservation easement pilot project in Cacapon and Lost River watershed.

"West Virginia is blessed with beautiful public lands and incredible wildlife," said Senator Manchin. "This $493K investment will support fish and river conservation efforts in the Cacapon and Lost River Watershed, which will promote outdoor recreation and boost tourism across the entire Mountain State. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to ensure West Virginia's public lands and wildlife habitats are protected for generations to come."
