Halloween happenings in Berkeley for all

Dress up. Seek a fright. Parade your pooch. Halloween events Oct. 24-31.

Whether you're young or old, dressed up or not, there are Halloween events for you and your family to enjoy in Berkeley.

For those who dress up, we have a skate event, parades, sing-alongs, and costume contests for kids - or even one for dogs and their owners. You can also get decked out in character and then shred at our skatepark.

Those seeking a scare can dare to traverse our haunted house.

These events across the City's parks and community centers entice a range of ages and interests.

Halloween sing-along for tots, Oct. 24

Ages four and under with adult supervision can join our free indoor sing-along to original songs. Bring an instrument to play or use one of our own.

Halloweeny Musical Story-Time for Tots
Thursday, October 24, 9:30 am - noon

Enjoy Halloween-themed performances from Together Wee Play and the Story-Time Band, perfect for little ones to enjoy music and play.

Roll into fun at our Roller Skate Boogie, Oct. 24

Whether you glide on four wheels or blades, all ages are welcome to don a costume and move under the lights of Grove Park's basketball courts. Enjoy a night of music, food trucks, and skating vibes. Don't miss out on this free event full of tricks, treats, and some smooth moves on wheels.

Skateboard into the night, Oct. 25

Get on your board and throw down some sick tricks! Costumes are encouraged; helmets are required.

Halloween Skate Jam
Saturday, October 25, 2024, 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Harrison Park, 1104 4th St

The Skate Jam will also have a costume contest, a skate trick contest, and a race. Throughout the event, we'll give out skateboard prizes like wheels, boards, trucks, and stickers.

Strut and howl at the dog parade, Oct. 26

Berkeley dogs and their owners will parade around James Kenney Park. Afterward, we'll crown winners for their getups, including categories for spookiest, cutest, most creative, and best doggie-owner duo.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times, be up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations, and behave safely around other canines. Pooches displaying aggressive behavior will be asked to leave.

Halloween Howl Dog Parade & Costume Contest

Parade and kids' costume contest, Oct. 31

Kids in kindergarten up to 5th grade can participate in costume contests and join others from Berkeley in a parade.

Halloween Parade and Costume Contest
Thursday, October 31, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Frances Albrier Community Center, San Pablo Park, 2800 Park St
Register for this free event

Starting at 4 pm, the group will stroll around San Pablo Park to show off their costumes escorted by the Berkeley Fire and Police departments.

Starting at 5 pm, head to the auditorium where we'll have a costume contest divided by grades kindergarten up to 5th grade.

Contestants will be judged in the following categories, Scariest, Cutest, and Most Creative. First, second, and third-place winners from each category will receive certificates and a goodie bag.

Experience the haunted house thrills, Oct. 31

If you're looking for a night of fright, head to the MLK Jr. Youth Services Center. Twist and turn your way through a haunted house with a Clown Room, Insane Asylum, Beetlejuice-themed area, Corn Field, and Graveyard.

Enjoy additional activities, including music, a photo booth, and jumpers for the little ones aged 5 to 10. Kids will also receive a goody bag of treats.

House of Screams Haunted House
Thursday, October 31, 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
MLK Jr. Youth Services Center/Young Adult Program, 1730 Oregon St.
Children aged 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult
Register for this free event

Guests must remove all costume masks and hoods before entering the haunted house and may not touch or hit the characters. Security will be on site.
