Escalation of tensions in Lebanon and Israel

The Brazilian government is following with grave concern the escalation of tensions observed last night in Lebanon and Israel, with Israeli attacks against targets in southern Lebanon and rocket launches by Hezbollah into Israeli territory.

Brazil urges all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid an intensification of hostilities in the region and the spread of the conflict to the rest of the Middle East.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly discourages travel to the region and has been advising the Brazilian community in Lebanon through the embassy's website and social media channels in Beirut.
