Larson-led Bill to Support Family Resource Centers Passes the House

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after the House voted to pass H.R. 9076, which included his bipartisan Promoting Community-Based Prevention Services Act.

You can view Rep. Larson's remarks here.

"Today's bipartisan vote will support families across Connecticut and the rest of the nation by ensuring Family Resource Centers (FRCs) can access the funding they need to provide services like health screenings, parenting classes, and childcare," said Larson. "40 years ago, I worked with Dr. Edward Zigler, the 'father of Head Start,' Matia Finn-Stevenson, Cece Woods, Frederica Gray, and Patti Russo, to pass legislation in Connecticut creating the first FRCs. What started as three FRCs has grown into 58 that serve 13,000 people annually across our state. I want to thank Rep. Mike Carey for leading this effort with me to help ensure our nation's Family Resource Centers can access the funding they need to continue to provide crucial services for families and connect them with the support they need to thrive. I look forward to a strong, bipartisan vote in the Senate so we can swiftly send this bill to President Biden's desk for his signature."
