Important Information About Processing Claims for Flexible Spending Accounts

To assist you with the 2024 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) program, Inspira (PayFlex), the documents below will provide helpful information on processing claims.

With the increase of IRS compliance guidelines, it has been an adjustment for all of us. The IRS requires substantiation of claims with very specific information. If the correct information is not provided, your FSA card will be suspended until the appropriate documentation is provided. Neither Inspira or the City controls what the IRS requires, accepts or denies.

The required information, in order to meet the IRS' regulations include all of the following:

  1. Date of service
  2. Description of service
  3. Name of provider
  4. Name of patient
  5. Dollar amount charged

This is not an Inspira or City rule - it is an IRS requirement.

Please be on the lookout for additional information in the near future regarding training sessions with an Inspira representative. The new FSA program guidelines and processes are not intended to make it a more difficult benefit to participate in, but instead, to keep you and the City compliant with IRS regulations.
