BNSF launches new carload service from Pacific Northwest to Colorado and Utah

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 1, 2024 - BNSF Railway, one of North America's leading transportation companies, announces the launch of its new express carload service from the Pacific Northwest to the fast-growing Denver and Salt Lake City markets, with speeds comparable to over-the-road options. The new service will enable BNSF customers to ship high-consumption products to key markets, including items like food and beverage, lumber, and other building materials.

The service expands upon the railroad's already vast service portfolio covering 32,500 miles of track in 28 states and three Canadian provinces, and provides:

• Improved Speed/Mobility: Cuts transit time in half compared to traditional rail, including three-day transit from Spokane to Denver
• Consistency: Three days a week departure (Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday)
• Wider Market Access: The opportunity to reach growth markets in Colorado and Utah

The service complements BNSF's existing service offering from the Pacific Northwest to Texas, launched in 2017, which provides access to the largest markets in Texas. The route utilizes the new Sandpoint Junction Connector rail bridge, completed late in 2022, allowing for two-way traffic on the bridge which crosses Lake Pend Oreille.
