City of Salem announces SalemRecycles Textile and TerraCycle Drive

Our 14th annual Textiles & TerraCycle Recycling Drive has moved to a new location! Please join us at the Universal Steel parking lot, 297 Bridge Street, on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8:00AM to 1:00PM.

Textiles are resources that can be reused as is, cut into rags, or ground up into new products. Textiles cannot go in curbside recycling, nor can they be placed in trash, per our state's Waste Ban.

TEXTILE DROP OFF - clothing, sneakers, shoes, boots, slippers, belts, ties, purses, stuffed animals, comforters, sheets, blankets, table linens, and curtains.

ANY CONDITION - as long as it's clean, dry, odor-free. Can be new and reusable, old and moth-eaten, stained, torn or damaged, broken belt, single sock or shoe.

PLEASE, NO - fabric scraps, carpet, rugs, pillows, bric-a-brac, oil rags, wet or mildewed items.

TERRACYCLE -- TerraCycle recycles many items that cannot be recycled curbside, and would otherwise end up as trash. The 5 programs we collect are Swiffers, Razors, Oral Care, Deodorant, and Brita.

Details are at https://greensalem.com/programs/terracycle-recycling/. Please keep each category separate when you drop off.

Please stay in your vehicle the whole time, and have items ready to unload in your trunk, truck bed or hatchback.

For more info, please contact Waste Reduction Coordinator Alisa Cherkasova at [email protected] or 978-619-5672.
