Hancock Whitney donated $50,000 to Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) to help those in the Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota communities recovering and rebuilding from hurricanes Helene and Milton. Hancock Whitney's gift, combined with a $50,000 matching contribution from the Tampa Bay Resiliency Fund (TBRF), will support RTTB in restoring homes and hope for Floridians affected by the two devastating storms, which hit the Sunshine State only 13 days apart in fall 2024.
"This year's hurricane season created extraordinary challenges for people and places in the paths of hurricanes Helene and Milton. In
Florida, cleanup from Helene had barely begun when Milton took aim at our state. With true 'Florida Strong' resilience and tenacity, however, local people have come together to recover and rebuild from the storms. We hope Hancock Whitney's collaboration with the Tampa Bay Resiliency Fund can help further empower Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay in getting individuals and families the resources they need to move forward and thrive," said Hancock Whitney Regional President Tim Coop.
Established through a Pinellas Community Foundation partnership with three other nonprofits to address critical needs during and after disasters, TBRF amplifies the fund's impacts through collaborations such as matching Hancock Whitney's gift.
"We're proud to partner with Hancock Whitney and Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay to accelerate recovery efforts," said Duggan Cooley with the Pinellas Community Foundation. "This collaboration is a testament to how working together can create meaningful change in the lives of those affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton."
Since hurricanes Helene and Milton, RTTB has been at the forefront of recovery, offering vital assistance such as mucking and gutting homes, tarping roofs, and distributing thousands of flood buckets, cleaning supplies, relief kits, hygiene essentials, MREs, water, and tarps. The nonprofit is now focusing on long-term repair and rehabilitation work.
