Poughkeepsie Man Arrested For Gun Possession

PRESS RELEASE

On June 27. 2024, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit and City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit arrested Malique J. Stephenson, age 24, of Poughkeepsie, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a class C felony, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E felony, Criminal Possession of a Defaced Weapon, a class D felony, and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices, a class B misdemeanor.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., Troopers made a traffic stop of a 2021 Kia Forte on Mill Street in Poughkeepsie for violations of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation determined the operator, identified as, Malique Stephenson, was in illegal possession of a defaced Glock 19 handgun and a Taurus G2C handgun.

Stephenson was arraigned before the city of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
