Campus Community Supports Warrior Food Panty

Throughout 2024, several departments and events at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) contributed to the Warrior Food Pantry, which serves as a vital resource for students in need. The 10th Annual Martin Luther King Day of Service, the Red & Black Breakfast and the Faculty & Staff Holiday Luncheon all provided opportunities for faculty and staff to donate food items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and gift cards to local grocery stores.

Other events that supported the pantry included the College of Arts and Sciences' Chili Fest; the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management department's Empty Bowls event at ESU's student-run restaurant, P&Js, which raised $3,750; the Warrior Yard Sale, featuring donations of clothing, bedding and electronics from students cleaning out their residence halls, with all proceeds benefiting the pantry; and the Sport Management departments' Organization and Administration class, which organized a pickleball tournament with 32 teams and collected over 250 items.

The Warrior Food Pantry, which is housed at St. Matthew's Church, offers students a self-service option for obtaining food. It operates exclusively for ESU students every Tuesday during the academic semester from 2-4 p.m. The pantry is run by retired faculty and staff members of APSCURF, who volunteer their time to ensure the pantry's success in supporting students' well-being in collaboration with St. Matthew's Church.
