Remembering September 11, 2001

Fort Belvoir, Va. -

DCAA honors the memories of those who died in the September 11, 9/11, terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pa. We honor the sacrifices and the heroes who worked, and continue to work, on ensuring the safety and security of our nation. Now, 23 years later, the impact of that day continues, with the next generation learning about it through history books rather than personal memories.

September 11, 2001, began like any other day in the nation's capital. But by late morning, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania had become the epicenters of a nightmare. For those of us close to and under the Department of Defense, this day holds particular significance. Many DCAA colleagues and their families were directly impacted by the events of that day, reminding us of the profound effect 9/11 had on so many of us.

On this day of reflection, DCAA stands with all who keep the memory of 9/11 alive and in our hearts. Together, we move forward, unified and guided by those who came before us to protect the future.
