Neal Statement on July 2024 Jobs Report

Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) July 2024 jobs report:

"With 43 consecutive months of job growth, it's safe to say the Biden-Harris Administration, along with Congressional Democrats, have delivered on our end of the bargain, and the results have been record-breaking. After inheriting an economy in freefall, we acted decisively to get folks back to work, and in the face of global inflation, we brought down costs and shored up supply chains. There's no reason this positive momentum should get away from the American people. The economy has shown sustained stability, and it's time to move to the next phase to ensure unemployment stays low and costs continue to come down.

"Building an economy that works for all is well within reach, but Trump's Project 2025 would wreck our progress. He's openly calling for skyrocketing inflation, picking trade wars, and wrecking the workforce all to add another $4.5 trillion to the deficit and give his wealthy donors another massive tax cut. Trump's out for himself, while we will never waver in our commitment to the people."
