A one-stop information source for northwestern AZ highway improvement projects

ADOT's communication team normally lets drivers know they can look forward to an improvement project each time a new one comes along. But what should we do when more than 20 are planned in just one part of the state?

We figured we'd tell everybody about all of them in a single place on ADOT's website. That's why we're inviting you to check out our new Northwest Regional Improvements page at azdot.gov/NWImprovementsthat features multiple projects on I-40 and US 93.

The improvements vary in scope: Bridge replacements and repairs. Replacing worn asphalt with a new layer of asphalt. Widening sections of highway. And a substantial project to build a new system interchange with I-40 and US 93 in Kingman.

Some projects are already underway, while others are upcoming. The projects total about 132 miles of highway. The Northwest Regional Improvements page includes maps to help visualize each section of highway where work is underway or planned.

If you're keeping score, the I-40 mapdetails 10 projects from the California state line to Seligman. And the US-93 mapshows 11 projects stretching from just northwest of Kingman to Wickenburg.

The new webpage features a brief overview of each project and a link to a specific project page that includes more detail, including what drivers can expect in terms of travel restrictions when the project is under construction.

The biggest improvements highlighted include an ongoing widening project on US 93 in Wickenburgthat's scheduled to be complete later this year. And another one has just started in Kingman, where ADOT is constructing a new free-flowing interchange between I-40 and US 93.

Please check out the site to see what improvements are ahead and what you can expect as a motorist when work begins.
