Subject to AS 38.95.080, the Northern Regional Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Carlton Collins

PROJECT NAME: ADL 420159 Trapping Cabin Renewal Permit

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
The current cabins are located between the Teklanika and Toklat Rivers and a 3rdcabin is to be constructed west of the Toklat River.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Section 7, Township 9 South, Range 12 West, Fairbanks Meridian.
Section 31, Township 8 South, Range 11 West, Fairbanks Meridian.
Section 12, Township 10 South, Range 14 West, Fairbanks Meridian

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW), Northern Regional Land Office (NRO), has received a Trapping Cabin Permit (TCP) renewal application from Carlton Collins. The TCP would continue to authorize the 12'x16' and 12'x18' cabins as well as authorize the construction of a new 12'x16' cabin west of the Toklat River in support of trapping related activities. The cabins would provide safety and overnight respite due to the geographical remoteness and distance from emergency services. If authorized, once the new cabin is constructed photo documentation and GPS coordinates will be submitted to DMLW. The applicant has been trapping in the area for over 10 years.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE: Trapping Cabin Permit: 10-yr term, 2024-2034

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: October 30, 2024

The public is invited to comment on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
