The University of Wyoming Jazz Studies program presents the Live Edge Trio with Josh Quinlan, saxophone, Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall.

The concert is free and open to all.

Live Edge Trio features UW Department of Music head Ben Markley on piano and fellow faculty members Seth Lewis on bass and Andy Wheelock on drums.

Live Edge writes and arranges music that reflects and builds upon the rich history of the jazz piano trio. Each member of the trio offers a unique and distinct musical perspective, combining for hard-swinging, harmonically rich and infectiously groovy tunes.

Lewis is an award-winning bassist who has performed all over the world, including touring with the great Glenn Miller Orchestra, appeared on dozens of recording projects and collaborated with many notable artists.

Wheelock is in high demand as a drummer, percussionist and educator. He has performed with many great artists, such as Ernie Watts, SK Kakraba, Chuchito Valdes, Marion Hayden and Terell Stafford; has played on dozens of records; and recently released his debut record as a leader, "View From Here."

Quinlan is a U.S.-born saxophonist, composer and educator who lives in Heredia, Costa Rica, where he is professor of saxophone at the National University of Costa Rica. He previously served as instructor of jazz studies at the University of Colorado; music faculty member at Denver School of the Arts; director of education for the Colorado nonprofit Gift of Jazz; director of the Dazzle Recordings label; and co-director of the Telluride Jazz Celebration Educational Program.
