Latteri named interim vice president for university advancement

August 16, 2024

John Latteri, the director of development for the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law since 2021, has been named the interim vice president for university advancement at Campbell University, President J. Bradley Creed announced this week.

Latteri will officially succeed Dr. Britt Davis - who has been in the role since 2011 and has been with Campbell University since 2007 - on Aug. 30.

"John has a proven track record of fundraising and external relationship management for the School of Law, where he's worked closely with Dean J. Rich Leonard," Creed said. "They have raised millions in support of the school and our students, and I am confident of John's abilities to lead our dynamic development and alumni team toward continued success and growth."

Like Davis, Latteri began his Campbell career with the School of Law and was previously director of major gifts for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was part of a team that raised more than $20 million in commitments for four straight years.

Prior to his role as director of major gifts at Penn, Latteri served for two years as a major gifts officer at Penn and six years in development roles at his alma mater, Towson University in Towson, Maryland, where he earned his bachelor of arts in sport management and a minor in business administration. He also spent three years as the assistant director of Athletic Marketing at the United States Naval Academy.

Latteri is on track this month to earn his Masters in Trust & Wealth Management from Campbell University.

Since Latteri joined the Campbell Law School team in 2021, nearly $7.5 million has been secured for law school programming, student scholarships and special projects to advance the mission of the School.

Latteri said he is honored to serve as interim vice president and honored to succeed Davis, whom he considers "a true mentor and friend."

"The advancement team has a strong foundation and impressive results over the past decade, and it is my honor to have the opportunity to help lead this team in a positive direction during a critical time as the University searches for a new president."

Over the last 11 years under Davis' leadership, the Office of Advancement has raised more than $300 million in external support, completed two capital campaigns, opened multiple new buildings, launched new and exciting academic programs, conceived best-in-class alumni programs, created one of the best university magazines in the country, enhanced university marketing and communications and effectively engaged local, state and federal officials.

Davis will remain in the area after transitioning from Campbell. He has accepted a senior leadership position at a regional nonprofit organization that promotes and organizes amateur athletic competitions in North Carolina and around the world.

He said it was "an absolute honor" to serve Campbell for 17 years, working with the community, alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff and friends in that time.

"Together, we have advanced this campus and community to benefit Campbell, Harnett County, North Carolina and literally the entire nation," Davis said. "I look forward to continuing to be involved with Campbell as a volunteer, friend and parent of two daughters who have earned their degrees at this wonderful university. I am praying for John Latteri and the entire advancement team to continue to realize success and blessings from the Lord."
