The Paterson Education Fund recently honored LaTysha Gaines, Campus Operating Officer, and Berkeley College with the Executive Director's Community Partnership Award. The award recognizes the College's ongoing support, and role in hosting the nonprofit's 41st Annual Jazz Party at its Woodland Park campus on June 15, 2024.
"Ty has been a wonderful resource to me and to Paterson Public Schools," said Rosie Grant, Executive Director, Paterson Education Fund. "Her pioneering efforts in establishing partnerships with our community and school district are commendable and promise to create new opportunities for Paterson students. I am deeply thankful for our collaboration thus far and look forward to a long and rewarding partnership with her and Berkeley College."
Gaines received additional citations from the City of Paterson, NJ, presented by Mayor Andre Sayeh, and from the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly, presented by Senator Nellie Pou (35th Legislative District).
Gaines joined Berkeley College in 2016 and previously served as Assistant Vice President, Student Development and Campus Life. She has more than 20 years of experience in higher education with a concentration in student affairs, engagement, retention, recruitment and conduct. She is a resident of Linden, NJ.
Gaines is a member of the Board of Trustees for Serenity House in Newark, NJ; and the Woodland Park Educational Foundation, where she serves as Vice President. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Paterson and Passaic.
She received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Youth of New Jersey in 2016; and was named among the Empowering Women Award recipients by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey in 2024.
The mission of the nonprofit Paterson Education Fund is to stimulate community action for change so that the Paterson Public Schools ensure all Paterson children achieve high standards.
