Cameron University Alumni Association seeks award nominations

Do you know a Cameron University alumni or faculty member who is deserving of recognition? Since 1979, the Cameron University Alumni Association (CUAA) has honored more than 200 individuals with awards honoring Distinguished Alumni, Outstanding Young Alumni and Faculty Hall of Fame. The CUAA is seeking nominations for the 2025 awards, which will continue to celebrate alumni whose accomplishments honor the legacy of Cameron University and to recognize faculty members who have a positive impact on student lives.

Students, graduates and friends of the university are invited to submit online nominations at https://www.cameron.edu/alumni/awards. The deadline for nominations for the 2025 awards is Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The nomination forms are online and easy to fill out so please nominate your worthy candidate.

Listings of previous recipients of the CUAA awards can also be found on the website. For more information, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (580) 581-2988.

Faculty and students from the Cameron State School of Agriculture (1908-1927), Cameron State Agricultural College (1927-1971), Cameron College (1971-1974) or Cameron University (1974-present) are eligible to be nominated. The awards will be presented during Cameron's annual Homecoming Weekend festivities in February 2025.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to Cameron alumni who received their first degree from Cameron more than 10 years ago as of the nomination deadline. The Outstanding Young Alumni Award is presented to Cameron alumni who received their first degree from Cameron less than 10 years ago as of the nomination deadline. Alumni who attended but did not graduate from Cameron may be considered at the discretion of the Cameron University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

The awards will be presented to alumni who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to Cameron in one or more of the following areas: by distinguishing themselves in their careers, in service to their community, or through continued support of Cameron University. Up to two awards within each category may be presented annually. Posthumous nominations will be considered.

Since its inception in 1979, CUAA's Distinguished Alumni Award has been presented to more than 120 honorees, including a former Cameron president, a U.S. Ambassador, and numerous state legislators and military generals.

Initiated in 2006, the Outstanding Young Alumni Award was established to demonstrate to current students that recognition for achievement can come early in professional life.

The Faculty Hall of Fame Award, established in 1995, is presented to current or retired Cameron faculty who have taught a minimum of five years at Cameron. This award recognizes teaching effectiveness, positive impact on student lives, involvement at Cameron outside of the classroom and/or involvement in the community.
