White Rock Rollin' the Lake: Steamroller Printmaking

Alongside the steamroller printing, there will be art demonstrations, activities, and music for everyone to enjoy.

4-6 PM - Viewing of prints, music, and art activities in the center's Lake Level space

STEAMROLLER PRINTMAKING

Printmaking has always been a collaborative art form, but when the studio moves outdoors and a steamroller becomes the press, it transforms into a dynamic, community event. Artists have spent months designing and carving their woodblocks in preparation for this day. With the help of event coordinator Terri Thoman, who secures all the necessary equipment, including the steamroller, Big Print Day comes to life. On the day of the event, artists work as a team to set up, print, display their creations, and clean up-an artistic performance in itself that the public will love to watch.

The goal of this event is not only to help artists create large-scale prints but also to engage the public, offering them a rare glimpse into the world of printmaking. Each artist will have the chance to share their process and spark meaningful conversations with the audience. There's nothing quite like the collective gasp of awe when a finished print is revealed for the first time!

PARTICIPATING ARTISTS

Katie Babb, Kenna Boles Prior, Paige Solum Boucher, Brian Coats, Anne Melville Blackburn, Nick Glenn, Eric Kitchen, Jackie Mclelland, Junanne Peck, Albert Scherbarth, Brad Ford Smith, Jacqueline Smith, and other artists.

ART ACTIVITIES

Iron Frog Press' PrintShop a Go-Go™

Demonstrations by Iron Frog Press' PrintShop a Go-Go, a mobile printing workshop that is excellent for sharing the virtues of printmaking to anyone anytime. Iron Frog's printing process does not require a press as it uses the Print Frog Glass Baren, a hand printing tool that makes it possible for kids and adults to master printing quickly.

Shamsy - Print on Print Zines

Participants will print on patterned papers and use collage to create layered images throughout their own handmade zines.

Shamsy Roomiani is a native Texas visual artist who relishes her time spent outdoors amongst the natural world. Known for her ethereal botanical and nature inspired work in installation art, printmaking, sculpture, photography, painting, and drawing, she has been deemed Dallas' "mystical plant artist" by PaperCity Magazine. Shamsy creates botanical installations, conducts workshops, and is a visiting artist and educator for museums and institutions in DFW.
