Garland was rated No. 4 in a ranking of The Most Hospitable U.S. Cities to Visit on Holidays, conducted by backyard furniture and gear website Backyard Oasis.

Garland was noted as "a suitable destination for travelers looking for value without sacrificing comfort." Garland scored well because of its recreation opportunities and came in with an "affordable average hotel price of $127.05."

The study considered factors such as hotel quality, recreation opportunities, safety and affordability. Data was sourced from platforms such as Numbeo, Google Travel and WalletHub.

Other Texas cities to finish in the top 10 in the ranking included Irving at No. 3 and Laredo at No. 7.
