Officers were quickly able to locate the suspect, and conducted a pat frisk.

Officers recovered a firearm from inside the suspect's backpack. The firearm was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson 380 Bodyguard with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine. The firearm's serial number was also obliterated.

Garofalo was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon on a Public Way, and Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
