“Amway Cares” Marks Three Years as 800 Plus Employees Serve 28 Kent County Non Profits

ADA, Mich, August 15, 2024 - Amway, an entrepreneur-led health and wellbeing company, today announced the success of its third annual Amway Cares volunteer event.

A cornerstone of Amway Service Week, the event was held on August 6 and 8, with more than 800 Ada-based employees - including 130 third-shift employees - giving more than 5,000 volunteer hours to serve 28 non-profit organizations across Kent County.

Over two days, employee volunteers supported 41 projects including landscaping, food reclamation, painting, farm work, bed building and more.

Volunteers also rallied to build a community playground, an annual initiative led by Amway for the past 18 years. Amway partnered with Sinclair Recreation, a company dedicated to creating play and fitness spaces that positively impact health and wellness and strengthen community.

Amway volunteers gathered at United Methodist Community House (UMCH) in southeast Grand Rapids to construct the intergenerational playground designed to engage kids and adults alike, along with a community park that includes tables, benches, landscaping, and more. The playground will enhance UMCH's ability to serve a diverse population with innovative, culturally relevant services that strengthen community across generations.

"Community building is paramount to our health and wellbeing mission," says Will Templeton, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. "Amway Cares: Week of Service exemplifies our commitment to supporting communities where our employees and Amway Business Owners work and play."

The care for community doesn't stop here in West Michigan. Amway teams around the world compound the company's volunteer engagement, with more than 25,000 hours invested by employees and Amway Business Owners globally to date in 2024.

"This summer, and in every season, hundreds more Amway volunteers will use their time and talents to serve their communities," continues Templeton. "It's our privilege to support the communities where we do business, and we're proud to do it together, with purpose."
