Roxborough Memorial Hospital Spreads Holiday Cheer with Thanksgiving Meals for Local Families

Philadelphia, PA (November 24, 2024) - As Thanksgiving approaches, families nationwide gather to celebrate with cherished meals and traditions. Yet, for many, the joy of this season is overshadowed by uncertainty and need. Recognizing the importance of community support during this time, Roxborough Memorial Hospital is stepping in to make a meaningful impact in the Philadelphia area. This year, in partnership with the North Light Community Center, the hospital has crafted 35 Thanksgiving baskets for families facing food insecurity, ensuring they can partake in this beloved holiday tradition.

Each thoughtfully prepared basket is filled with all the ingredients for a festive feast: creamy mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables, savory stuffing, rich gravy, warm rolls, delightful pastries, scrumptious pies, and a bottle of sparkling cider. This initiative not only provides nourishment but also embodies the spirit of generosity that defines the holiday season.

"We are honored to collaborate with the North Light Community Center to uplift our community during this special time of year," said Shawn Parekh, CEO of Roxborough Memorial Hospital. "As food insecurity continues to rise, our commitment to supporting those in need has never been more critical."

Parekh emphasized, "Our efforts to deliver Thanksgiving meals reflect our belief in the transformative power of kindness and community spirit."

The compassion of Roxborough Memorial Hospital's staff shines through in their commitment to this cause. Employees come together with enthusiasm and pride to assemble the baskets, showcasing the vibrant community spirit alive within the hospital. This camaraderie not only enhances the lives of those receiving assistance but also strengthens the bonds among staff members, proving that collective efforts can lead to remarkable change.

The Thanksgiving food drive is just one of many charitable initiatives that Roxborough Memorial Hospital embraces each year. Their ongoing dedication to service aims to bring joy and comfort to families throughout the Roxborough area, reminding everyone of the importance of giving back.

The significance of supporting families during the holiday season cannot be overstated. Roxborough Memorial Hospital's initiative to provide Thanksgiving meals serves as a beacon of hope and collaboration, enriching local families' holiday experiences and fostering a deeper sense of community.

"Our team understands the vital role of community support," noted Leslie Finnegan, Director of Radiology at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. "Every department comes together to ensure the success of this initiative, demonstrating our collective commitment to those in need."

Finnegan added, "Through our partnership with the North Light Community Center, we stand united in our mission to assist families during the holidays."
