US 84 traffic shift planned Aug 8 for Doctors Creek Bridge Project
LUDOWICI -Traffic is scheduled to shift Thursday, August 8, weather permitting as part of the Georgia Department of Transportation's US 84 westbound Doctors Creek Replacement Bridge Project located 3 miles east of the City of Ludowici in Long County.
Traffic traveling westbound on US 84 will reduce to a single lane then shift to the left onto eastbound bridge over Doctors Creek. Traffic traveling eastbound will reduce to single lane through the work zone. The shift is necessary to allow the contractor to replace the westbound bridge.
Motorists are encouraged to watch for directional signs and are reminded to follow the 45 mph speed limit as they proceed through this one-mile-long construction zone.
Georgia DOT's $5 million Doctors Creek Replacement Bridge Project began in March 2024 to replace the current westbound bridge that was built in 1970. It is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. The eastbound bridge was constructed in 2000 when US 84 was widened to four lanes.
