SFPD Participating in Domestic Violence Awareness Month 24-115

The entire month of October is when the yearly National Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign takes place. The San Francisco Police Department's Special Victims Unit and other department members will participate in raising awareness on this very important public health topic by wearing a purple ribbon pin during the month of October.

Domestic Violence is a global issue reaching across national boundaries as well as socioeconomic, cultural, racial, and class distinctions. Domestic Violence is widespread, deeply ingrained, and has serious impacts on the survivor of domestic violence and their well-being. Its continued existence is morally indefensible. Its cost to individuals, to health systems, and to society is enormous. In the United States, nearly every 1 in 2 women and more than 2 in 5 men reported experiencing intimate partner violence at some point in their lifetime.

The SFPD is here to protect, serve, and advocate for victims of domestic violence. The links below provide victims with SFPD resources and links to advocacy partners who provide further assistance such as emergency shelters, hotlines, and programs that will assist victims through the process.
