John Avlon Added to DCCC’s Coveted ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Avlon will flip NY-01 blue and help take back the House majority

Today, the DCCC announced that John Avlon has been added to the committee's highly competitive 'Red to Blue' program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Avlon, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as he runs for New York's First Congressional District.

"John Avlon will bring independent representation to Suffolk County to protect women's abortion access, find bipartisan solutions to secure the border, and keep Long Island families safe. Meanwhile, Nick LaLota has only ever done the bidding of his far-right party bosses. Suffolk County families will reject LaLota's extremism in November," said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene.

John Avlon is a native New Yorker whose immigrant grandparents inspired a deep love for our country. John and his wife, Margaret, first moved to the East End after they got married and now call Suffolk County their home. As an author, journalist, television anchor, and presidential historian, John has used his voice to warn Americans across the country about the dangers posed to our democracy for over a decade - and is now running for Congress to call out unhinged extremism and partisanship. In Congress, John will fight back against MAGA extremists to protect women's reproductive rights, the environment, and our democracy. John will also work towards bipartisan solutions to secure the border, lower taxes, improve Long Island's infrastructure, and create safe communities for Suffolk County families.
