Oroville Police Department Investigating Shooting at Local Motel 6

OROVILLE POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING AT LOCAL MOTEL

Oroville, CA- On Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, at approximately 9:05 AM, the Oroville Police Department dispatch center received multiple 911 calls regarding a disturbance/physical altercation between two parties that escalated into a report of shots fired at Motel 6, located at 505 Montgomery St., Oroville, CA 95965.

Oroville Police officers immediately responded to the scene. Once the scene was secured, officers located the victim, who was pierced with fragments of a bullet from the shots fired. The victim did not suffer a direct gunshot wound.

Additional officers and allied agencies arrived and searched the surrounding areas to locate the suspect. Officers utilized an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) to search for the suspect.

The suspect, now identified by the Oroville Police Department as Jacob Marmon, age 45, of Oroville, is described as a white adult male in his early to mid-40s; at the time of the shooting, Marmon was wearing a black shirt with white graphics and light-colored shorts, last seen walking in the 1400 block of Feather River Blvd.

This is an isolated incident between two individuals, and there is no immediate threat to the public. However, we want to remind the public that Marmon may still be armed and considered dangerous. Do not approach this individual if located.

At this time, an arrest warrant has been issued for Marmon. This investigation is active and ongoing.
