Bottoms up! Orange County Utilities recently won the title of Best Tasting Drinking Water in Central Florida. The award-winning water sample was submitted from the Vistana Water Supply Facility, which is in the southern part of the utility's service area.
Nine utilities competed in the Region III Drinking Water Contest hosted by the Florida Section American Water Works Association (FSAWWA), a statewide association of drinking water professionals.
Each sample in the blind taste contest was submitted at room temperature and scored by judges in four categories: taste, odor, clarity, and color.
Orange County Utilities finished in first place and will face other regional winners in the statewide competition in December.
Mayor Jerry Demings praised the accomplishment. " Our dedicated water professionals at Orange County Utilities strive daily to provide our community with clean water, and receiving the 'Best Tasting Water' award reflects the exceptional quality of their efforts for our residents."
The state winners will be judged at the national competition next summer in Denver.
"We're proud of the dedicated team and their ongoing commitment to producing quality drinking water-quality so good you can taste it," said Ed Torres, Director of Orange County Utilities.
