OAKtoberfest: Sept. 28

OAKtoberfest is a new, nature-focused community event will serve as a gentle reminder of our place in the ecosystem and allows us to step away from our electronic devices to reconnect with the earth and each other. Dive into the wonders of nature at Flossmoor Park from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, where we will celebrate nature, trees and community spirit with activities for all ages. During the day, explore guided nature walks, discovering the diverse tree canopy and native flowers in our local ecosystem. Participate in interactive workshops and demonstrations by community partners, such as the Chicago Region Trees Initiative and the University of Illinois Extension, focusing on sustainable living practices, organic gardening and more. Kids will enjoy nature-themed programming, led by nature centers and the Homewood Science Center.

As the sun sets, prepare to party in the South Commuter Lot (just south of Downtown Flossmoor) at the inaugural OAKtoberfest Music Festival from 4-9 p.m.! Enjoy live performances by talented musicians - including Butterfield Creek and Tributosaurus - plus special beverages and fall food items.
