Of the 140 holiday baches originally built on Rangitoto Island throughout the 1920s and 30s, just 34 of these special homes remain. Standing largely unchanged since they were built as much as a century ago, these baches offer irreplaceable examples of architectural and social history in Aotearoa New Zealand and our disappearing DIY holiday baches.
