Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence and Director of the Defence Policy Directorate paid a visit to the MoND
State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, received the visit of Dr. Arnold Kammel, Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence and Director of the Defence Policy Directorate, on Monday, August 5th, at the MoND headquarters.
The two officials approached topics of common interest, such as the security situation in the Black Sea region and the Western Balkans, in the context of the Russian Federation's war of aggression in Ukraine.
State Secretary Simona Cojocaru appreciated the cooperation between the Romanian and Austrian soldiers within the operational commitments of the European Union in the Western Balkans, referring to the consistent participation of Romania and Austria in EUFOR ALTHEA Operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the NATO-led Kosovo Force Mission (KFOR).
During the activity, the two dignitaries signed the Implementation Agreement between the Romanian Ministry of National Defence and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defence on defence cooperation. The signing of this document created the premises of a future in-depth cooperation for the benefit of both parties.
At the end of the meeting, Simona Cojocaru and Arnold Kammel agreed on the need to continue the political-military dialogue, enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and identifying new cooperation opportunities, especially in the context of the participation in missions and operations at international level.
