The third Development 101 workshop was held on Monday, Sept. 30, at new City Hall with several area developers, consultant firms, business owners and interested residents in attendance. This hybrid tour and workshop was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Fort Worth development process and to showcase the fifth-floor Customer Center at the new City Hall.

Participants were able to tour the Hub of the City's development-related services, such as building permits, trades, plats, infrastructure, zoning, water development, backflow and grease traps. One of the objectives of this relocation is to prioritize and enhance customer service through streamlining the development process. Furthermore, it will offer customers a more convenient means of accessing all essential services in a single location.

The workshop was intended for developers, consultants, small-business owners or those involved in city planning and development. It offered valuable insights and practical knowledge to help navigate the development landscape in Fort Worth.

Following a brief opening presentation, three breakout sessions were held concurrently where staff members presented the various steps and processes of the development processes, such as Zoning, Urban Design, Engineering, Transportation, Stormwater, Platting, and more. Staff used a creative real-world scenario called Bob's Building a Bistro to highlight what processes could be triggered when trying to open a business. This scenario helped the audience follow the steps needed in a simplified manner

Following each presentation, staff had open and collaborative discussions with attendees. This, coupled with the detailed tutorial presentations, resulted in an informative and helpful workshop for all who attended, showcasing the City's commitment to a positive customer experience when developing in Fort Worth.

The Development 101 workshop series is a partnership between the City of Fort Worth and Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce.

Once available, the workshop video and presentations can be found online.
