Zow! Lego’s Latest Creation Is this Stellar Classic Batmobile

Pow! Zoop! Bam! Lego just keeps rolling out the hits when it comes to brick-based car models. Its latest creation has us reminiscing about the days of Adam West and overly exuberant fight scenes with the bad guys.

Item #76328, an 1800-plus-piece classic Batmobile, looks absolutely superb. The shapely black and red coupe once again raises the bar for just how lifelike these creations can get using Lego bricks.

Not only does the Batmobile look quite real, but it's also full of neat flourishes that harken back to the original TV series. The trunk opens to reveal a replica version of the Bat-Computer, replete with a killer "Mobile Crime Computer" plaque. (Thinking about how such a machine would have worked back in the day makes our heads spin a bit, but hey, that's Hollywood magic for ya!)

One of the most iconic shapes of the original Batmobile is the curved double-bubble windshield and rear glass. Lego nailed that part with pieces that we've never seen before. There's a non-zero chance that those curved, clear pieces are new and purpose-made for this application. (Just like in the world of full-size cars, getting a new part through design, testing, and production, takes a surprising amount of resources. If Lego did indeed make that piece just for this application, we can't applaud the company enough.)

Of course, no vehicle replica made from Legos would be complete without a little figurine, and in this case, you'll get a 1966-style Batman minifigure with the mask, the classic grey, black, and yellow suit, and even a flowing cape. And because something like this is more likely to be a display model on a shelf, an awesome stat card is also included. Who knew Batfuel was all it took to get a 390 cubic-inch V-8 to be able to propel your black beauty to speeds of 350 mph?

The Classic TV Series Batmobile is available for pre-order now, for $149.99. For an 1822-piece model with this level of detail and this sort of cool factor dripping from it, dare we say that feels like a bargain? It looks like Lego will begin shipping these out in early October. Early Christmas present, anyone?
