Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's is hosting a holiday party for Pediatric Oncology/Hematology patients Wednesday, Dec. 11, 4:00 p.m. at the Roxbury Park Community Center in Beverly Hills.
The celebration will feature live music and dancing, along with face painting and other child-friendly arts and crafts.
About 50 patients and their families, along with Cedars-Sinai physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, are expected to join the party. Members of the Beverly Hills Police Department--one of the event sponsors that regularly organizes visits with Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's patients--also will join the festivities catered by Sodexo and Love Catering.
And, as they have done for the past 20 years, El Segundo High School seniors will be bearing gifts for all the patients as well as the patients' siblings. The El Segundo High tradition was initiated by a former student whose friend had cancer.
The party ends with a visit from Santa Claus and an opportunity for the children to take pictures with him.
The event is the right prescription for patients and their families, said Joanne Ordono, Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's Child Life Specialist.
"Some of our patients are currently undergoing cancer treatments," Ordono said. "Others have successfully completed treatment, but for all it's a special time to celebrate together, enjoy the holidays and feel the love from the Cedars-Sinai family."
Media are invited to attend and cover. Please contact Soshea Leibler at (213) 215-8000 or [email protected] to confirm your attendance.
