August 29, 2024 - NEWARK, NJ - NJ PBS, New Jersey's public media network, announced that its newsroom, NJ Spotlight News, will produce a new special, Remembering Michael Aron, to broadcast and stream Monday, September 2 at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on NJ PBS (check local listings). The special will fill the time slot of the network's usual weeknight news program, NJ Spotlight News with Briana Vannozzi, and honor the legacy of Michael Aron, who was NJ Spotlight News' Chief Political Correspondent and widely known as the "Dean of the State House Press Corps" in Trenton. The half-hour special will be available online at NJSpotlightNews.org, on the newsroom's social media outposts and as a podcast on all major platforms.
"Michael Aron was an icon of New Jersey journalism," said NJ Spotlight News Senior Managing Editor Jamie Kraft. "It's only fitting we honor his decades of hard and widely-respected work with this special edition of our newscast on Labor Day."
The half-hour NJ Spotlight News special is a tribute to the life and legacy Aron, who passed away at the age of 78 in August. It traces his four-decade career, which included coverage of every major New Jersey political story dating back to the days of Governor Brendan Byrne. Fellow NJ Spotlight News journalists and former NJ Governor Chris Christie are among those who will reflect on the impact of his work and their share personal stories about him in the program.
