EU membership remains priority of Serbia's foreign policy

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić spoke today with Head of the European Union Delegation in Serbia Emanuele Giaufret about Serbia's European path and current events in Kosovo and Metohija.

Emphasising that membership in the European Union remains a strategic commitment and priority of Serbia's foreign policy, Đurić expressed the expectation that the new convocation of the European Commission will be devoted to the issue of enlargement to a greater extent and that this issue will indeed be at the top of its list of priorities.

Serbia, as he stated, remains committed to the implementation of the reform agenda on its way to full membership in the European Union.

The head of Serbian diplomacy informed Giaufret about the problems faced by the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and pointed out that the latest unilateral actions of Pristina in the north of the province are a continuation of the policy of intimidation, the ultimate goal of which is the expulsion of Serbs.

Đurić reiterated that Serbia is determined to solve the problems in Kosovo and Metohija through dialogue, but also warned that we are witnessing the fact that the constructiveness of one side is not enough for progress towards finding mutually acceptable solutions, according to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
