Target’s Extended Holiday Store Hours and Convenient Shopping Options

Target is ready to deliver an easy and joyful shopping experience this holiday season, with investments in our stores, same-day services, supply chain and most importantly, our team. This means guests can quickly cross everything off their shopping lists, grab amazing deals and discover only-at-Target gifts and brands while saving time for the best part of the holidays - celebrating with friends and family.

When are Target stores open?

However guests get their Target run done, they will find a convenient shopping experience that works for them.

  • Target has nearly 2,000 stores across the country, including 23 new stores that opened in 2024 alone, bringing our on-trend and affordable offering to more communities. Our latest locations are part of our commitment to build more than 300 new stores and enhance nearly our entire store network in the next decade.
  • Thanksgiving Week: Target stores will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, but guests can still shop Target 24/7 on Target.com and the Target app. Doors open at 6 a.m. local time on Black Friday and close at their regular time (check local store hours).
  • Extended Holiday Hours: Nov. 30 through Dec. 23, guests will be able to shop extended hours, from 7 a.m. until midnight local time.
  • Christmas Eve: On Christmas Eve, stores will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: Target stores will be closed Christmas Day, Dec. 25, but guests can still shop Target 24/7 on Target.com and the Target app for Order Pickup or Delivery after the holiday.
  • Target has opened more team-member supported checkout lanes so guests have the option to quickly check out - all to add ease and speed to the tens of millions of anticipated transactions throughout the holiday season.

What are other convenient ways to shop Target?

Drive Up and Order Pickup

Guests can also take advantage of Target's fast and free Drive Up and Order Pickup services at their local store, with most purchases usually ready within two hours and no membership required.

Target also continues to enhance our industry-leading same-day services, including:

  • An easier, more enjoyable Target Drive Up experience with nearly 28,000 Drive Up stalls coast to coast - as well as the ability to make a return and place a Starbucks order from the comfort of a car.
  • Have an iPhone or Android phone? Guests can access Drive Up and Order Pickup services nationwide using the Target App in Apple CarPlay and through Android Auto to navigate to a store for a curbside order, making a Target run even more convenient.

Target.com and the Target mobile app

At any time of day, guests can also shop nearly the entire store on Target.com or the Target app. Behind the scenes, our team members at more than 4,400 pack stations in the back rooms of Target stores are prepping packages for shipping. That's where 95% of the items from all Target store and digital orders are fulfilled and center stage of our stores-as-hubs strategy.

The other perks of online shopping with Target this season:

  • Through Target's same-day delivery - a built-in benefit for Target Circle 360 members - guests can place orders from the comfort of their home and get it on their doorstep or someone else's the same day for purchases of $35 or more. Guests can also take advantage of free shipping on hundreds of thousands of items when using a Target Circle Card or when spending $35 or more. What this means? More time to prep for hosting - and to spend time with family and friends.
  • Not a Target Circle 360 member? From Nov. 10 to Dec. 2, Target Circle 360 membership is available for 50% off its $99 annual fee. Target Circle cardholders pay $49 per year. Non-members pay $9.99 per order.

How is Target optimizing its supply chain this holiday season?

Target's global supply chain and logistics team is in top shape to deliver our inspiring and affordable assortment to our guests for the holidays, thanks to careful planning and investments across the network.

  • Target is working closely with our merchant, vendor and transportation partners to stay well stocked on all the in-demand holiday gifts and essentials, with an estimated 160,000 trailers of product slated to deliver to stores throughout the holiday season.
  • This holiday season, we have four more supply chain facilities open across our network than last year, including two new food distribution centers in Sacramento, California, and Windsor, Connecticut, an omnichannel flow center in Hampton, Georgia, and a last mile delivery sortation center in Detroit. And as we've ramped up our omnichannel flow center network over time, we have more facilities carrying our full assortment, which means faster delivery and items arriving in fewer packages for guests.
  • We've continued to expand how we make the most of machine learning technology and artificial intelligence to better forecast stores' replenishment needs and improve visibility to inventory flowing through our supply chain. We're using this tech to help us forecast in-store and online demand for twice the number of items in our assortment compared to last year, ensuring we can get the right inventory to the right places at the right time for our guests.

Sortation center networks built to deliver quickly

This year, Target is delivering holiday packages the next day to even more neighborhoods thanks to continued investments in Target Last Mile Delivery capabilities across our sortation center network. We currently have 11 facilities across Minnesota, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan, reaching approximately 60 million consumers. We also have our first Target Last Mile Delivery extension near Atlanta, a facility that extends our Georgia sortation center's reach. This scale demonstrates not only the success of our hyper-local and regional supply chain strategy, but also our ability to deliver everything guests need quickly and easily. This holiday season, Target expects our sortation centers to:

  • Deliver even more packages next-day through our network as we continue to invest in our last mile delivery operations. In select markets, when our guests place their order before noon, they'll receive their order the next day.
  • Process up to 400,000 packages per day through our network - quadrupling our daily package volumes compared to the rest of the year and processing up to 20,000 packages per hour.
  • Serve more than 3 million additional consumers through our newest sortation center in the Detroit market.

Team investments

All of this is possible because of Team Target. To deliver the best service in the industry this holiday season, Target offers team members flexible work options through our On Demand team of nearly 45,000 stores team members. And to provide our team and guests with additional support, Target hires seasonal team members across our stores and supply chain. Like our existing team, seasonal team members have access to a robust total rewards program, including a market-leading starting wage ranging from $15 to $24 per hour, health and well-being benefits, opportunities for growth and development, flexible schedules, discounts on merchandise and more - in addition to the chance to experience Target's dynamic culture.

Our supply chain team has planned and prepped all year to ensure guest orders arrive on time and accurately this holiday season. Each package we process is an opportunity to deliver cheer to our guests' doorsteps - and it's a responsibility we approach with great care. I'm so thankful for all the work our teams continue to do to ensure an extraordinary guest experience during the holidays and beyond.
