Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with President of Uzbekistan about bilateral relations and international affairs

Ahead of the summit of the Organization of Turkic States, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conducted bilateral talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Bishkek, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday.

The parties established that cooperation between Hungary and Uzbekistan had developed spectacularly in recent years; in 2021, the two countries raised their relations to the level of strategic partnership, and there is an ongoing high-level dialogue. This political process has in turn paved the way for Hungarian businesses interested in the Uzbek market.

Our energy cooperation, too, extends to ever more areas; for instance, Uzbekistan would also like to join the Green Energy Corridor project that is crucial from the viewpoint of Hungary's energy security, Mr Havasi said, adding that at the meeting, Mr Orbán and Mr Mirziyoyev also spoke about cooperation in the fields of water management, transport and education, while the parties further discussed topical international issues.
