UT System health institutions again top U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals rankings

UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center have once again secured top honors in the U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Hospitals rankings released this week.

MD Anderson maintained its decade-long position as the nation's No. 1 hospital for cancer care. Since the survey's inception in 1990, MD Anderson has consistently been one of the top two hospitals nationally for cancer care. The center also received national rankings across various specialties, including No. 2 for Ear, Nose & Throat, No. 9 in Urology, and No. 14 in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery. Additionally, it earned "High Performing Ratings" across several common adult procedures and conditions, highlighting its excellence in specialized care.

UT Southwestern continued its leadership as the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth for the eighth consecutive year and ranked among the nation's top 50 hospitals in 11 specialties, the most of any hospital in Texas. Notably, UT Southwestern secured top 25 rankings in cancer, cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and lung surgery, and rehabilitation. UT Southwestern also achieved "High Performing" designations in 19 out of 20 procedures and conditions evaluated by U.S. News, highlighting its comprehensive health care excellence.

Milliken said. "I congratulate President Peter Pisters and President Dan Podolsky and their remarkable university clinicians, researchers and entire staff for these extraordinary accomplishments."

In addition to MD Anderson and UT Southwestern, both UT Medical Branch and UT Health San Antonio were recognized in cancer treatment rankings.

Both UT MD Anderson and UT Southwestern are engaging in significant expansion projects. MD Anderson Cancer Center will construct a new comprehensive cancer hospital on the UT Austin campus, while UT Southwestern and Children's Health announced plans for a new $5 billion pediatric health campus in Dallas.

The UT System is the eighth largest health system in the country by physicians, with nearly 11,500. Collectively, UT-owned and -affiliated hospitals and clinics accounted for more than 10.8 million outpatient visits and more than 2.1 million hospital days last year. In addition to world-class patient care, UT researchers are on the front lines of advancing treatments and therapies for deadly and debilitating diseases.

The UT System has seven medical schools and UT institutions offer degree programs across the health care spectrum, including nursing, dentistry, public health, health professions, biomedical informatics and behavioral sciences.
