Official Launch of Three Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs with GTI Energy as Key Partner

GTI Energy is proud to announce that the U.S Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) has finalized phase 1 award agreements with the three hydrogen hubs in which GTI Energy plays a pivotal role - the HyVelocity Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub, the Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen Hub (MachH2), and the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2).

With the initial distribution of federal funding for phase 1, these hubs will catalyze the development of regional networks of clean hydrogen producers, consumers, and connective infrastructure while supporting the production, storage, delivery, and end-use of clean hydrogen. Together, these hubs are poised to reduce millions of metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from end uses each year, create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs across the country, and bolster America's energy security while fostering healthier, more sustainable communities.

The Community Benefits Plans that will be executed as part of the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs ensure that the significant public and private investments drive measurable, positive outcomes for the communities these hubs serve. GTI Energy is proud to contribute to an effort that advances decarbonization, but also ensures a more equitable, accessible, and resilient energy future for all.

GTI Energy brings five decades of hydrogen technology expertise to the table, as well as a strong track record in advancing hydrogen research, development, and deployment. With a legacy of successful and collaborative public-private partnerships, GTI Energy plays a critical role in initiatives like H2@Scale in Texas and Beyond, a pioneering proto-hub committed to delivering innovative, cost-effective, and scalable renewable hydrogen solutions.

"GTI Energy is playing a pivotal role in the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs, driving the deployment of hydrogen at a commercial scale to help decarbonize the economy and position the U.S. as a leader in clean hydrogen technology," said Kristine Wiley, Vice President of Low Carbon Energy Solutions, GTI Energy. "These hubs will unlock market potential and create opportunities to build the essential infrastructure for low-carbon energy deployment, fostering sustainable growth and resilience in communities."

Explore the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs in the Gulf Coast, Midwest, and Appalachian regions:

HyVelocity Hub: Texas and the Gulf Coast

The HyVelocity Hub, an industry-led hub administered by GTI Energy, will leverage the world's largest concentration of existing hydrogen production and end-use assets in Texas and the Gulf Coast to deliver the benefits of low-carbon hydrogen and good-paying jobs to local communities. HyVelocity is led by six core industry sponsors - AES Corporation, Air Liquide, Chevron, ExxonMobil, MHI Hydrogen Infrastructure, and Ørsted - and consists of a wide array of partners, including its key organizing partners, The University of Texas at Austin, Center for Houston's Future, and the Houston Advanced Research Center.

Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen (MachH2): Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan

GTI Energy is a participant of MachH2, a multistate alliance of public and private entities representing every phase in the hydrogen value chain. The alliance includes a cross section of carbon-free and low-carbon energy producers, clean energy developers, hydrogen technology providers, utilities, major manufacturers, and leading hydrogen technology development and deployment institutions. The hub is comprised of eight projects led by nine subrecipients: Air Liquide; BP; Constellation Energy; GTI Energy; Invenergy; Mass Transportation Authority-Flint; Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy; Midwest Hydrogen Corridor Coalition; and Nicor Energy Ventures Company (NEV), an affiliate of Northern Illinois Gas Company (Nicor Gas).

Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2): Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia

GTI Energy is a member of the ARCH2 Executive Team, and a key contributor to ARCH2 serving as a member of the Program Management Office team led by Battelle Memorial Institute. ARCH2 is a regional hub bringing together private industry, state and local government, academic and technology institutions, non-profits, and community organizations across the Northern Appalachian region. ARCH2 will leverage diverse regional resources to build a safe, sustainable clean hydrogen hub that can scale and integrate into a national clean hydrogen network.
