On September 23, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a Winnipeg School Division school for the report of a threat to students and staff conveyed through a note found in a bathroom.
Central, North, and West District General Patrol officers attended and attempted to locate a student identified as the individual believed to be the author of the note. School officials initiated lockdown protocols as officers continued to search for the student.
At approximately 1:07 p.m., officers arrested the student inwithout incident in the 100 block of Cecil Street. As a result, school officials removed lockdown protocols.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The student faces a charge of Utter Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm and was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
