Water Discoloration - Water Remains Safe for Consumption and Use

Utility customers from Sheridan Street to Stirling Road between N. 46th Ave. to just east of I-95 continue to experience discoloration of tap water. The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) continues to work to identify the root cause of the discoloration, which appears to be in the general area of the 2000 block of Stirling Road. Crews continue with pressurized line flushing to aid in clearing sediment from the line.

Water Quality staff are regularly testing the water supply to ensure it remains safe for consumption and regular use. A precautionary boil water advisory HAS NOT been issued at this time. It is NOT necessary for customers to boil water prior to use. To aid in clearing water lines, customers can open all their taps and let the water run until it runs clear.

Additionally, DPU has brought on an engineering consultant to analyze all the data collected thus far, and "line stops" are being installed at critical junctures to help guide testing and identification of the root cause.

As additional information becomes available, it will be posted here.
