Property taxes are due Tuesday, July 2, 2024

Outstanding current tax balances after the due date are subject to a 5% penalty on July 3 and a further 5% on September 4. Penalty applies on any unpaid balance, including unclaimed Home Owner Grants.

How to pay your property taxes:

  • Online Banking:
    • Search for New Westminster and select payee with "taxes". Use the 8-digit folio number on the front on the tax notice as the account number. Please retain your payment confirmation for documentation purposes.
  • In Person:
    • At New Westminster City Hall, Community Centers and Financial Institutions. Please check websites for hours of operation and retain your payment confirmation for documentation purposes.
  • Mail:
    • Please make all cheques payable to City of New Westminster
    • DO NOT send cash in the mail
    • For return and non-sufficient funds (NSF) cheques, a handling fee will be charged.
  • 24-hour Drop Box:
    • Located in the rear parking lot at New Westminster City Hall, 511 Royal Ave
  • Credit Card:
    • Credit card payments are only accepted online via the City website as newwestcity.ca/egov. A convenience fee will apply.
  • Financial Institution/Mortgage:
    • Please contact your financial institution to confirm your property taxes have been paid. Remember to apply for Home Owner Grant, if eligible, even if your property taxes are paid through your financial institution.
  • Preauthorized Pre-Payment Plan (PAPP)
    • Tax payers have the option of subscribing to prepay next year's property taxes and flat rate utilities by completing and submitting the PAPP application form located on the City's website at newwestcity.ca/propertytaxes-utilities

Property tax notices are mailed out at the end of May and should arrive by first week of June. Property owners subscribed to receive electronic copies of their notices (eBills) should receive their eBill this week. If you did not receive your property tax, please contact the 604-527-4550

Home Owner Grant

Municipalities no longer accept Home Owner Grant applications. All applications must be claimed through the Province of BC. For more information, please call 1-888-355-2700 or visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant

Property Tax Deferment Programs
