European Union Delegation to the State of Qatar Celebrates the Successful Conclusion of the Second Edition of the (eunited) Summer Camp for Underprivileged Children in Doha

The European Union Delegation to the State of Qatar and Zulal Wellness Resort are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the second edition of the second part of the (eunited) Summer Camp, held from August 14th to August 25th, 2024, at Zulal Wellness Resort. This year's camp hosted Palestinian children from Gaza, who are currently guests of the State of Qatar and it was facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Development and Family.

Over the course of two weeks, the summer camp provided 20 children, aged 12 to 15, with a unique opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities designed to promote personal development and sportsmanship. Through physical activities including swimming, padel and gym sessions, as well as educational sessions, and masterclasses in sports, arts, and mindfulness, the children gained invaluable skills in teamwork, discipline, emotional intelligence, and respect.

The camp's emphasis on holistic development, combining physical and mental health activities, created a nurturing environment where children could learn, grow, and thrive. The camp not only fostered a love for sports but also instilled important life values, reflecting the European Union's commitment to using sports diplomacy as a tool for positive social change.

The EU Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Dr. Cristian Tudor, said: "I am very proud and pleased about the successful conclusion of the second edition of the (eunited) Summer Camp for underprivileged children that this year was special in hosting Palestinian children from Gaza. The success of this initiative would not have been possible without the generous support and collaboration of our partners and I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Zulal Wellness Resort for providing accommodation, catering, and a range of physical and mental health activities, for this second part of this year's (eunited) Summer Camp. I also express my sincere thanks to ZeroHundred, the European/Qatari public communication agency, for their exceptional efforts in communicating the goals and values of the camp to a wider audience".

Mr. Holger Glaser, Resort Manager of Zulal Wellness Resort, commented on the conclusion of the camp: "We are honoured to have played a part in this remarkable collaboration, providing a nurturing environment for the children to explore their potential. At Zulal Wellness Resort, we believe in the power of holistic well-being, and it was truly rewarding to see the positive impact our activities had on these young participants. We remain committed to supporting such initiatives that align with our values of wellness, community, and personal growth".

The positive feedback from participants and partners alike, for both parts of this year's (eunited) Summer Camp which overall lasted for a month, hosting over 100 Palestinian children, underscores the importance of this initiative. The European Union Delegation to Qatar and its partners look forward to continuing their efforts to support underprivileged communities in Qatar and beyond. The European Union Delegation to Qatar and its partners remain dedicated to fostering dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding through sports diplomacy and other community-focused activities, while empowering children to be children.
