Rep. Austin Scott on House Passage of FY25 NDAA

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Representative Austin Scott (GA-08), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), released the below statement upon the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 passing the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 281-140. The NDAA sets Department of Defense (DOD) policies and authorizes funding levels for defense programs.

"The FY25 NDAA provides several key wins for Georgia and focuses on improving the quality of life of all our service members and their families, who sacrifice so much to defend us," Rep. Scott said. "We live in the greatest nation on Earth, and it is imperative that we support those who protect our freedoms."

The FY25 NDAA supports military families in Georgia by providing a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted and a 4.5% pay raise for Georgia's 89,900 servicemembers. This legislation also authorizes $379.3 million for seven military construction projects in Georgia, expands programs to help 29,300 military spouses attain and retain employment, and expands access to childcare for the 47,900 children of military families in Georgia.

Throughout the lengthy process of crafting the FY25 NDAA, Scott had 15 different priorities included in the final bill as either bill language or statements in the Joint Explanatory Statement that accompanied the bill.

Rep. Scott has a Joint Explanatory Statement included in the NDAA that notes that the three public Air Force logistics complexes, including the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, play a critical role in support of our national defense by ensuring the readiness and sustainability of the Air Force.
