Public Works' Week in Review for November 14, 2024

The Public Works Department is made up of various sub-departments including Fleet, Line Repair, Streets/Stormwater and Traffic, Wastewater, and Water. Each week, over 100 employees are responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of existing and new infrastructure across League City which includes everything from roadways and traffic lights to storm drains, sewers, and water production.

Below are some tips and projects they are working on:

Lift Station Maintenance

The Line Repair's I & I (Infiltration and Inflow) Crew assists the Wastewater Department with Lift Station cleanings. The City currently has 78 lift stations. The Wastewater Department's goal is to clean 3-4 lift stations a month. This preventive maintenance process helps against wear and tear to the lift station's pumps, operational efficiency, and potentially saves on annual maintenance cost for the City.
