CHICAGO - December 13th, 2024 - Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is expanding its services to West Virginia through a new partnership with Vandalia Health at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC). The joint operating agreement will be effective as of January 1, 2025 and will enhance the delivery of inpatient rehabilitation services throughout West Virginia. Currently, Vandalia Health operates a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit at CAMC General Hospital, but as part of this new partnership, the organizations will work together to build a state-of-the-art 50-bed rehabilitation hospital on the CAMC General Hospital campus.
The partnership will operate under the name Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation at Vandalia Health CAMC General Hospital. It was developed through collaboration with the Mary Free Bed Advisory Group, which works to establish national partnerships with organizations that align with Mary Free Bed's mission and values.
Kaufman Hall served as the exclusive transaction advisor to Vandalia Health.
Established in 1972, CAMC is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed, regional referral center made up of seven hospitals CAMC General Hospital, CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, CAMC Memorial Hospital, CAMC Plateau Medical Center, CAMC Charleston Surgical Hospital, CAMC Teays Valley Hospital and CAMC Women and Children's Hospital, CAMC Cancer Center (with three locations: Beckley, Charleston and Hurricane), the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine and the CAMC Foundation. More than 1,500 providers are members of the medical staff of CAMC, which is also West Virginia's premiere medical teaching facility, hosting, on any given day, more than 1,000 students in programs leading to degrees or certifications in health professions.
