Statement by ICE spokesperson Jenny Burke on the Adelanto ICE Processing Facility

WASHINGTON - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has provided notice of its intent to the GEO Group, Inc. for the Adelanto ICE Processing facility in Adelanto, California, to extend the current task order to December 19, 2024. The extension allows the agency to maintain readiness while planning future use of the facility. The ability for the agency to remove individuals to their home countries, hold those in custody who require detention and are a public safety threat is directly dependent on location and availability of detention space. ICE continues to modernize the immigration system as resources allow to realize cost efficiencies across the operational landscape.
